by Shawn Paul
The ratio of compression of the LTO-2 tape drives is same as that of 1st generation LTO-1 ultrium tape drives. The LTO2 tape drive has 8-channel mechanism for data recoding which is similar to the LTO1 drives. The average speed of the LTO-2 ultrium drives is faster but its media length is same as that of the LTO1. The users of the LTO 2 tape drives have the flexibility to read & write data on the LTO1 data tape cartridges so the investment made by the companies is secured.
The top transfer speed of LTO2 tape format reaches 40MB/sec. LTO 2 media technology is best reliable for restore, backup and archiving applications. The unique and innovative design of the HP LTO tape gives exceptional results. HP LTO2 has the advanced exclusive features of HP. These HP cartridges have internal memory, active cleaning head (internal) and capacitates for self-diagnostic that gives them longer life and outstanding durability. HP LTO 2 is perfect choice for the companies that want faster backups with low cost of operations.
LCD Monitors Connecting by USB?
Submitted by admin on Fri, 12/12/2008 - 9:14am.Cool LCD USB Monitors on the Rise
by Gen Wright
Some PC enthusiasts find it hard to believe that it's actually possible to run a monitor using just an USB cable. In our daily lives, we have gotten used to using USB cables to connect to almost any other external device - printers, digital cameras, mobile phones, speakers, keyboards, etc. But it is just amazing how this tiny cable has evolved to providing support for mini monitors.
Actually, it would be more accurate to say that this is made possible due to the evolution of both USB and monitor technology. Nobody really paid much attention to this possibility until someone mentioned that it would be nice to have an LCD monitor that is also a photo frame. So ASUS came up with the UFOTO.
Compressing Video Files

by Ken Parker
MPEG-1 - the father of the MPEG family - was a revolution in video formats over 15 years ago. It offered a comparatively good quality video with a low bit rate. Satellite broadcasting grew fast and MPEG-1 had to be changed. The improved version of MPEG-1 was introduced in 1992 and called MPEG-2. MPEG-2 had a better compression scheme yet the resolution and the number of frames per second was higher than in MPEG-1. How was that possible?
The developers of MREG group found out that 95% of the video data is often more than once repeated in other frames. Such data was thought redundant and was cut off and replaced by one source piece. This replacement can be done without prejudice to the video quality. Besides, MPEG-2 had improved audio compression scheme.
Data Recovery

by Eugene Mayevski
Executive summary
Disaster recovery planning is one of the key components of smooth business security strategy. While hardware component of such planning is well discussed in the manuals and white papers of hardware providers, the software component, being no less important, is often overlooked in the planning.
Solid File System (SolFS) is a software component for programmers working on data storage and data integrity solutions. Integration of SolFS into data recovery solutions will reduce recovery time, minimize data loss and insure data integrity, prevent malicious tempering or destruction, and reduce requirement for highly-skilled IT workforce. This white paper analyzes advantages of SolFS use in the area of data recovery following a disastrous event of any nature.
More and More Are Turning To Open Source Solutions

MySQL is the most widely used database management system. Even relatively inexperienced people can use this software on its own or as part of dynamic web sites for virtually any database application under the Sun (this is an inside joke which will be explained below.) This article introduces MySQL and its companions. First we will discuss a bit of its history.
SQL is short for Structured Query Language. This language dates back to 1970 in a paper written by Dr. E. F. Codd, researcher at IBM. This ground-breaking paper described the theoretical foundations of relational databases, databases that are based on tables. Oracle Corporation beat IBM to the punch by bringing the first SQL-based database management system to market back in 1979. MySQL was released for Windows computers almost twenty years later. Over the years this product has evolved significantly and become a major player in the very competitive SQL market for database management systems of all sizes.
Understanding SMS

The Short Messaging Service (also known as SMS) is one of the most popular forms of communication in the world. What was once thought of as a novelty is now an $81 billion per year business. How did this technology evolve into the giant that we see today?
The first SMS message was sent in 1992 in the United Kingdom from Neil Papworth on a personal computer to Richard Jarvis on a handset. The first text message sent on a GSM phone happened the following year by an engineering student with Nokia. Since that time, there are now more than 2.4 billion SMS users in the world.
How Secure Are Your Production and Development Networks?

Computer software engineers are people who are qualified professionals working behind the scene to bring us the latest in the software technology. The technology being almost a part and parcel of our daily routine we look forward for their latest development unknowingly. Their developments can more often than not be used beneficially in our lives. The computer software being a fast developing field it has become almost impossible to keep up with the daily developments. So in the present day the job of computer software engineers do require specialization in a particular field to keep abreast of changing technology.
Learn HTML - Understanding the Basic Structure
Submitted by admin on Fri, 11/21/2008 - 1:07pm.To learn HTML you must first understand the basic structure of this markup language. This article will get you ready to dive right in and start working with HTML to build your own great Website.
HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. This is the most basic code for formatting Web documents and instructing Web browsers on the display of these documents. HTML components are, in many ways, the building blocks of the Web.
It's not particularly difficult to learn HTML code. In fact I like to say that it's a lot easier than learning to read and write the English language; this gives people a solid reference point and allows them to feel more comfortable moving forward.
